Design Thinking and Communication II - Petal Board

In my second course of Design Thinking and Communications, I worked in a team of 4 to design a product for the flower farmers of Field and Florist that reduces physical stress on the farmer’s hamstrings by changing their position to a kneeling position and maintain or increase efficiency in the farming process. The Petal Board is a rolling wooden board with an inclined rubber pad on top and a flower bucket attached to the side. The farmers will kneel on this board and roll their way along the flower beds while they work.

This was done by:

  • Prioritizing client needs by performing user testing resulting in the final design’s function and specifications

  • Conducting failure mode and effect analysis for each feature of the petal board

  • Writing a final report detailing the solution and presenting the final product to the client
